Location: North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, NY

The NSUH Medical Library is the epicenter for medical students, hospital residents and staff alike.  Since some of the library’s patrons spend hours studying or doing research, comfort was of high priority. Twine Architectural Studio worked closely with the Director of the Medical Library to create a space she felt would accommodate their needs within a timeless state-of-the-art facility.  Impromptu gatherings are common within the library; therefore multiple seating options are provided for groups as well as individuals.  A series of study carrels, café tables and lounge seating has been provided to give each user a choice best suited to their needs.  Glass partitions afford acoustical privacy for the Computer Technology Lab and conferencing rooms while maintaining visibility and a sense of openness throughout the space.
